Plain-language explanation of what the optional camera feature does, what it does not do, and how to turn it off and delete anything it produced.
FocusArx's attention-monitoring feature is optional, off by default, and processes video entirely on your device using MediaPipe. Frames are analysed in the browser and are not uploaded to our servers. Every feature works with the camera disabled, and you can delete the derived data at any time.
Nothing involving the camera. The feature does not activate until you explicitly enable it and grant browser permission, and the browser will ask you again if permission is revoked.
The browser gives the page a local video stream. MediaPipe, running as WebAssembly in your browser, derives coarse attention signals from it — roughly, whether a face is present and oriented toward the screen. Those derived signals are used to score the session.
Raw frames are not encoded, not uploaded and not stored. What leaves your device is the session score and the derived signals, not video.
Disable it in session settings at any time, or revoke camera permission at the browser level — the site loses access immediately. Nothing degrades: timers, rooms, tasks, streaks and analytics all work without a camera.
Derived attention signals are attached to your session records and are removed with them. The data-deletion page walks through removing a single session or your whole account.
Attention monitoring is never required, and we recommend it stays off for younger users. Study rooms do not require a camera to join or participate.
